7 types of rest there’s more to proper rest than simply sleeping at night or relaxing in front of the tv. this might be why you are constantly exhausted and burnt out. its crucial to experience all of these 7 types in order to deeply rejuvenate and to enhance your life force.

1. physical rest. resting the body to restore your body’s energy. β€’ passive: get a sufficient number of hours of deep sleep. set the alarm so that it goes off at the end of a 90 min cycle. β€’ active: relax the body via a massage, yoga or listen to a hypnotherapy meditation.

2. mental rest. giving your brain a break. β€’ take a break from consuming content on social media. β€’ step away from a busy work day. β€’ journal. β€’ take a break from problem solving. β€’ meditate to clear your head.

3. social rest. a must when relationships leave you feeling drained & exhausted. especially if you are constantly needed by others. β€’ spend time around people who energize you. β€’ limit time spent around those who drain you. β€’ take a break from socialization completely.

4. emotional rest. being authentic with emotions & feelings. β€’ create boundaries. β€’ let go of pretending you’re ok even when you aren’t feeling great. β€’ talk to a therapist/ a trusted loved one to release emotional labour. β€’ spend time with people you can be authentic with.

5. sensory rest. giving your senses a break. β€’ dim electric lights or use candlelight for an evening. β€’ take a break from songs with words and opt for soft classical music. β€’ turn off notifications. alerts. β€’ take a break from social media. β€’ try out flotation therapy.

6. creative rest. letting yourself immerse in art fully without any underlying intentions. β€’ watch the sunrise sunset. β€’ visit a museum. β€’ listen to soul moving music. β€’ watch creatively inspiring movies. β€’ make art just for the sake of it with no intentions of monetising.

7. spiritual rest. connecting with something bigger than yourself, connecting with the Divine or with a community. β€’ meditate. pray. β€’ make rituals out of the mundane. β€’ participate in ceremonies (religious, spiritual etc). β€’ spend time in nature.

you might be in need of all of these. or you might have an idea which type of rest you need the most. however it’s important to rotate between all 7 types in order to recharge, calm your nerves and to have that life force energy flowing through you.
