The topline of this @jonathanchait piece is stunning: a progressive data scientist at a research firm accurately tweeted an African American Princeton scholar's work showing the electoral effectiveness of peaceful protest over violence—and was fired for it

@jonathanchait We mock Trump for hiring a comically incompetent pollster and demanding CNN retract a poll that's bad for him, but it turns out suppressing electoral data you don't like is a bipartisan temptation. I don't understand how you can run a credible analytics firm and cave to this.

@jonathanchait Said it before and I'll say it again: Suppressing the evidence of political and other realities you dislike does not actually change the reality. It just sweeps it under the rug and makes you less able to combat it. That's hiding from responsibility, not meeting it.
